Are you a new seller in eBay?

We have been doing a lot of research on procuring items for sale and how effectively we can ship it to our customers. In the process we realized the complex process involved in doing this effectively. If you are a small seller in eBay, just starting out your business, you are not going to sell enough volume to get a great deal from drop shippers. So to be successful you need really big profits on the first few products that you sell on eBay so you can procure more products and start selling enough volume to become a power seller.

We encourage you to bid on GoDib.com to get great prices on popular and awesome products. We promise you we will not put on our site any used or refurbished items. So buy it here at a great price and sell it for a great profit.

For us, seeing our customers successful is the greatest feeling of accomplishment that we can have. Bid with us and be on your way to a successful online retailing. Good Luck!

Countdown timer is gone…so when are we launching!

First I apologize for not writing for the past few days. We have been really busy getting the last few details worked out. In spite of our best efforts we weren’t able to pull the December 1st launch that we promised you. We are a startup and are learning a ton of things in the process. But we decided that it is no reason to launch a product with low quality. We are working tirelessly to make this an excellent experience for our customer. Please bear with us. I will post more updates…and will do it faster from now on. Sorry for the delay…and thanks for your support!

Thanksgiving Dinner + Nintendo Wii

People plan so much about what appetizer goes with the main course, how to choose the dessert and a whole bunch of things while choosing wine. But people just don’t think about what you can do to burn off the food after the dinner. My wife and I were invited for dinner at my friends place. He has thought about it and made arrangements for that. While he and his wife just cooked up a delicious dinner (Boy! it was a feast!) they also had a great variety of Wii games to play after dinner. We started eating at about 3:00 pm and went on eating until 8:00 pm - all the while playing games in the middle.

If you don’t own a Nintendo Wii yet - I would say that you are really missing something. Wii puts you on action and on your feet. It was awesome! We have some Nintendo Wiis that we are putting on sale here. Its retail price is $250 but with the shortage in supply people are paying anywhere from $350 - $600 or more to get their hands on a Nintendo Wii this Christmas. But you can buy one as low as $20 and it can happen ONLY on GoDib.

I have written previously about how GoDib works. So you know there is no catch. Jump in!

Black-Friday Deals - Did you get shopping in time?

Whew! I just came back from the shopping frenzy. Got one item of what I wanted and was beaten by others for the rest. Circuit City had a 200 people queue just to enter the digital camera section!! My wife went to Kohl’s and the billing queue was about 100 people long. Just when she was about to dump what she bought she found a friend at the head of the queue who accepted to bill hers as well.

Well, I know many of you were out there and missed out on great deals today on electronics and games. Don’t lose heart, let us know what you were hunting for and we will have it listed in the site for a reverse auction deal. What could be better than you pushing the price of the product down!! :-) No mad driving or standing in the cold outside the store - just sit on your couch and play the GoDib bidding game with others. Your friends will envy you on the great prices you will pay for the products on our site.

Don’t miss out!

Tiffany & Co. Vs eBay

Tiffany is suing eBay over counterfeit items being sold in eBay.

http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/Business/wireStory?id=3857515

From Tiffany’s side I really see merits in the case. eBay is charging a listing fee and also a commission when these products are sold through their site. So they believe eBay is responsible for their user’s action.

Being a developer I am just thinking how would eBay stop this? One thing is just to scan for keywords “Tiffany” + “Jewelry” and just not let users create such a product listing. But, is that what Tiffany really wants? Not being listed in one of the most trafficked websites on the Internet?! I don’t think so.

Finally, I think this is going to be one of those lawsuits which will be talked about for a week and the next week people won’t know what happened to it. All in all eBay seems to get a good media coverage at Tiffany’s expense.

GoDib - Reverse Auction with a Twist

We recently broke the news on what GoDib is all about. From the comments that we got for the post it was clear that we didn’t add enough details about our site. So here we go…

The concept of reverse auction is not new. It has been around for sometime. I have pointed to different sites that are using this concept today. But I would like to point out some key concepts of these sites on how the auction process works. Bidnation.co.uk uses closed bids. No details of the bids are disclosed until the bid ends. This means that the user is just shooting in the dark hoping to get the lowest unique bid. Note, as a user you are paying money to put your bids in. We didn’t think this was fair. BidJam.co.uk uses open bids. In this case the entire history of bids is published. So a person joining the auction during the last 5 minutes looks at the entire history and makes a guess of few possible lowest unique bids that might win and places his bid and finally might win it. There might be users who have been bidding for a longer time (and thus spending more money at the site) but still lose the auction. To bidjam.co.uk the person who was spending money through out the auction and the person who came in the last 5 minutes are just the same. We felt this was unfair too.

Our concept of the auction is to remove the unfairness of the open and closed bids. We are not claiming that we invented Reverse Auction bids but we do have a unique way in how the auction works on our site. Come back again when we launch and you will know how the process works. Just 10 more days!! :-)

Black Friday 2007 Deals

GoDib is all about deals…whether you get it here or anywhere else. Black Fridayis coming up and it is time for all the great deals in electronics. If you saved your Sunday paper you already know all the deals. But if you are like me whose paper was stolen before 6:00 am then searching the Internet is the only option. There are lots of sites that list all the deals this Black Friday. Here is one that I found was pretty good,

 http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/

I have gone through the deals and made a list of all the products I want. This year it is just two. I usually call the store or visit the store the day before Thanks Giving and check out how much stock they have. Then I confirm the isle where the product is stocked in the store, finally on Friday I am there outside the store camping with fellow deal hunters from 3:00 am. So far I have been among the first 10 to enter the store so I have been pretty luck with getting what I want (sometimes more than what I intended to buy :-) ).

Good Luck! Post your experiences here, I will post mine as well.

GoDib - Your Online Reverse Auction Site

All right! Enough of the suspense. I can’t hold it anymore. :-)

GoDib is designed to provide users the greatest Online Reverse Auction experience. So what is a reverse auction site anyway? In my previous post I wrote about reverse auction sites. The concept as such has been used predominantly in business-to-business procurement where the roles of the buyer and seller are reversed to push the price of the product down. Well there are other concepts in Reverse Auction as well like www.oltiby.com where the buyer sets the price he is willing to pay and sellers bid for his business. Our reverse auction selects a winner based on the person who has the lowest unique bid.

From my previous post on reverse auction sites you know this concept is already there, so what is new that we are doing? As much as all of these sites are interesting, we truly believe we can create an auction experience that is fun and fair to all the participants. We didn’t design this site to mirror some other existing sites. We have built this like a game…yes you are playing a game with other bidders. If you are like me, who play a lot of Poker, you will love to play this game. It is more of a strategy on whether you win a auction and not just luck. In traditional auction the guy who gets the last bid in wins it! You might have followed the bid for the 2 days it was on and it just doesn’t matter!! We have a unique way to estimate the interest of each bidder and the more interest you have showed the more are your chances of winning the bid! Doesn’t that sound interesting?

There is more to it…we put One Product a day for auction! Yes, at the end of the day there will be a winner, no reserve bids no gimmicks. It is just that straight forward. We will release all the information of the winner and the price at which the bid closed on the site. Nothing to hide.

We have a whole stream of interesting products lined up for the auction. All the products are brand new and in box - no refurbished or used products. Be there to win some of these products at rock bottom prices.

More to come!

RoboRaptor Platinum Edition.

I first looked at this in Woot.com and was wondering why anyone would want this. Yesterday I had to do an oil change for my car and I dropped my car at a Jiffy Lube and walked across the street to a Bed, Bath and Beyond store. I usually go there to sit on their massage chairs. ;-) I just wanted to take a quick tour of the store and found tons of these RoboRaptor in a corner of the store. I asked the sales person on why they have so many and she looked at me like a weirdo and said that they don’t think they have enough for the holiday demand.

Well, I can see it is all pre-historic looking creature that can walk and make noises, but I would rather put my money on a iPod, Nindendo Wii or iPhone. The last thing I want is a creature like this walking inside my house. I know there is someone out there waiting to fire me on this. I am all ears…shoot! :-)

So what do you want for Christmas?

We wanted to launch this site before Christmas and it is nice to see that is really taking shape now. I will keep updating our home page and will start writing more about what we really are in the next few days.

People are thinking about Thanks Giving now but my local Target store launched a Christmas shopping decorations two months back. Yes, the run for gadgets, toys, gifts for your wife and mom is all going to happen in the next 25 days. Do you have a wish for Christmas? Do you want a gadget for Christmas at a great price!! Let us know and we will keep you  in the loop and notify you when the magic happens here. Yes, it is Christmas… and magic does happen.
